General Principles

• Checked baggage is deemed to be lost for the purpose of compensation if:
  • the airline admits the loss, or
  • it has been missing for more than 21 days.
• The airline is liable for damages caused by loss of checked baggage, up to a certain limit: CAD$1,500 - CAD$2,100 (depending on the airline).

Important Deadlines

To assert your right to compensation, you must:

• within 2 years of your arrival, initiate legal action.

Failure to observe this deadline may result in losing your right to compensation.

Your rights are governed by the airline’s Domestic Tariff.
