Delayed Baggage

General Principle

Checked baggage must be delivered to passengers upon arrival. The airline is liable for damages caused by delay in the transportation of checked baggage, up to a certain limit.

Failure to observe these deadlines may result in losing your right to compensation.

Checked baggage that has been missing for more than 21 days is deemed to be lost for the purpose of compensation. See Lost Baggage for details.

Applicable Law

Your rights are governed by:

  • the Montreal Convention, if you were travelling on an international itinerary,
  • the airline’s Domestic Tariff, if you were travelling only within Canada, and
  • 14 CFR Part 254.4, if you were travelling only within the United States.
